Lanett is located in eastern Alabama, on the Chattahoochee River, northeast of Montgomery. One of the major industries is cotton milling. The city's name is derived from Lanier and Bennett, founders of the West Point Pepperell Company. Shopping can be found in the area. Popular chain stores, specialty boutiques, antique shops and local flea markets offer variety.
